Change of Seasons

September

As the Season change, so do the things that go on in our lives. Nothing remains the same.

Just as the summer temperature changes, and the leaves start to change colors  – we change as well.

Change is not always a welcoming presence for some, but for most CHANGE is a good, and important part of moving forward on your journey.

Taking Advantage of the Season

Getting our priorities in order and choosing to focus on what is relevant for the hour and season we are in is crucial to having a systematic plan that works for our lives. God is a God of order, it is in that order that excellence is found. It is He who created the seasons to reflect the cycle of our own personal lives. Truly there is a time for planting, a time of harvest, a time for eating the fruit of our labor, and a time for dying to give way to new and sweeter fruit. This cycle is present in every area of our lives, emotionally, relationally, financially, professionally, even spiritually. As we embrace the season, understanding its purpose and looking forward to the blessings on the other side of it we are able to weather our transitions gracefully and reap a bountiful harvest from each one.

So what does that mean for you right where you are today? Well, if you are single, rejoice and take full advantage of all that is solely yours. Take advantage of the time, space and resources you have to explore and enjoy every aspect of life being cognizant of the fact that this is just a season. And seasons do pass so plant well while you have everything at your disposal to do so.

Are you a business woman? An entrepreneur? Plant carefully and prepare to reap from what you have sown. Be a wise steward of your increase. Like the ant be aware of the season for harvesting and storing, trusting God to fill your store house to overflowing for the purpose of being able to pour out to others in need.

To everything there is a season and a purpose. As we embrace this truth and learn to embrace where we are we grow in grace and in the sufficiency of all that we need in that season to walk in excellence.  To lag behind or grow impatient with where we are the two impulses we must resist. Only you know which season you are in and your attitude toward that season. Begin now to take stock of where you are and how you view yourself in light of that knowledge. Then step up to the diva-licious challenge of being all that you were created to be—a woman of excellence, thriving in her purpose according to God’s divine timing.

Time Heals

We all have a part of us that would like to fix everything and make it better–But we can’t, we are not supposed to.

Time heals visible wounds, but what about the wounds that are invisible. Forgiveness is an important key in that process. Please understand that when you forgive someone you are need to follow thru and forgive. You can’t get out the door if you don’t step out. You can’t move if you don’t lift your feet.

Forgiveness is sometimes the hardest thing to say & do, but it needs to be done in order to move forward!!

Wisdom

“Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom?

Here’s what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It’s the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts. Mean spirited ambition isn’t wisdom. Bosting that you are wise isn’t wisdom. Twisting the truth to make yourselves sound wise isn’t wisdom. It’s the furthest thing from wisdom – it’s animal cunning, devilish conniving.

Whever you’re trying to look better than others or get the better of others, things fall apart and everyone ends up at the others’ throats.”

The Bible – James 3:13-16

What Lesson is Your Life Offering Right Now?

This week, I challenge you to consider the lessons your life is offering you right now. I say, “offering” because God offers lessons, but it is up to us to learn from them. If we don’t learn, the same lessons are offered again and again. Through both frustrations and exciting times, there is something for you to learn that will prepare you for greater opportunities on your horizon.

This week, I’d like to share five of the greatest lessons I have learned on my journey thus far. Perhaps you’ve learned these along your journey as well. Sometimes, in the hectic pace of life, we need a reminder and that is what I am here to offer you today:

1. NOTHING IS PERMANENT.

I first learned this lesson at six years old, which was the first time my family moved. We left my birthplace of Florida and moved to Germany. I moved eight more times by the age of 21 — to cities in Colorado, South Carolina, California, back to Florida, and Texas.  Growing up in an Air Force family, I quickly learned to adapt to new circumstances, new people, and sometimes even a new country. Nothing in life is permanent – a fact that should encourage us to revel in the joy your life brings and minimize your frustration when you encounter circumstances you don’t like. There is something in your life right now that is not permanent. If it is something you love, in what ways could you embrace and enjoy it more? If it’s something you dread, just hold on a little longer. This too shall pass.

2. YOU ARE EITHER LIVING ON PURPOSE OR LIVING BY ACCIDENT.

Too many people wander through life haphazardly – latching on to people, jobs and things just because they crossed their path. Then they wake up one day wondering, “How on earth did I get here?” I call it “living by accident.” In order to create a fulfilling life, you have to be purposeful in your decisions. Don’t make your decisions without reflecting on how your decision will impact you long-term. Pursue the things that empower you to express your values and talents. Choose to be around people you feel good being around – inspiring, supportive people who are moving in the same direction as you. Know your purpose and live it in every day in your work, relationships, health, finances and spiritual life. In what way do you need to begin living more on purpose?

3. FEAR DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN “STOP.”

Fear is as powerful as you allow it to be. Most of us feel fear and interpret that feeling as a warning to stop moving forward. In truth, we should interpret most fear as a natural emotion that pops up every time we venture to do something outside of our comfort zone. When you feel fear, keep moving. It’ll stretch you beyond your comfort zone and closer to your goals. What are you afraid of right now that is keeping you from your best life? Will you make a decision to move forward despite your fear?

4. LESS IS MORE.

More than ever, our culture is fixated on proving your worth through your money and material possessions. Whole television shows are dedicated to showing you all the stuff other people have. After a while, it can be pretty challenging not to compare your “stuff” to everyone else’s. But true self-empowerment comes from knowing that nothing material will ever prove your worth. Your worth comes from who you are – a child of God – and the impact you make in the lives of others. Don’t worry about impressing everyone else. Instead, focus on impressing God by living the purpose for which He created you: Serving and blessing others in a way that only you can.

5. THE POWER TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE IS IN THE CHOICES YOU MAKE.

This is perhaps the most powerful of lessons. Better choices create better circumstances. It’s not what happens to you that most impacts your life. It is how you respond. Your choices create your future. What kind of future are you creating with the choices you are making today? You can choose to enjoy your life or to be miserable. You can choose to be flexible or keep hitting a brick wall at work or in a relationship. You can choose to pursue your dreams or keep making excuses for why you can’t achieve them. The choice is yours. What new choice do you need to make in your life?

Today You Can

Today you can choose to count your blessings or you can count your troubles. Today you can live each moment or you can put in time.

Today you can take action towards your goals or you can procrastinate. Today you can plan for the future or you can regret the past.

Today you can learn one new thing or you can stay the same. Today you can seek possibilities or you can overwhelm yourself with the impossible.

Today you can continue to move forward or you can quit. Today you can take steps towards resolving your challenges or you can procrastinate.

You see today the choices are up to you in deciding what you do today.

Move your mind forward

Whatever you dwell upon in your mind, you give power to. So of course it makes sense to focus on what you want rather than what you don’t want. Yet there are many ways in which the things you don’t want can sneak into your thinking.

Worry and doubt focus your thinking on what you don’t want. Rather than worrying about the bad things that might happen, direct your actions toward making positive things happen.

Complaining can also get your mind sidetracked into thinking about what you don’t want. What do you complain about? The things you don’t like. Rather than complaining, take action. Action moves you toward what you do want.

Anger is one more way to get your thinking negatively directed. Rather than getting angry about what you don’t like, use that energy to give you determination for what you want to achieve.

Keep your mind positively focused on the good things that life can offer. Those things will grow stronger and more abundant in your world.

Unlimited Abundance

There is no limit to the supply of abundance. In fact, the more abundance that is lived, experienced and appreciated, the more there is to go around.

The only limits on your abundance are the limits you place on it. The good fortune of others does not come at your expense, and your own authentic good fortune does not come at the expense of others.

As such, envy is a completely self defeating thought. When your thoughts are filled with envy, you cannot see or connect with the abundance that would otherwise be available to you. Yet the moment you begin to rejoice in the good fortune of others, it becomes your good fortune as well. As soon as you let go of any envious thoughts, abundance begins to flow your way.

Be supportive, not resentful, of the achievements of others. Instead of cutting yourself off from their good fortune, you can participate in it and partake of it by virtue of your sincere encouragement.

Banish all thoughts of envy and resentment, and open your eyes to the amazing abundance that is yours to live.
